Improv in the May Series featuring Shovel City Improv Group

Back for another round of comedy is Marion’s own improv troupe, Shovel City Improv on Saturday, January 29, 2022.

Think you’ve seen it all? No way! These crazy hometown comedians keep it fresh with new sketches each performance that YOU help create. So bring your imaginations and bring your friends to laugh the night away with Shovel City Improv.

Shovel City shows are set up very similar to the popular improv show, Whose Line is it Anyway?. The performers rotate through a variety of fun and ridiculous games throughout the evening. And the audience members get to help create the show with their suggestions (and sometimes they even get to participate on stage). It’s all short-form improv with each game lasting around 3-5 minutes. Some of the standard games in a Shovel City set list include Dating Game (where a bachelor asks questions of three contestants and has to guess who/what they are by the end), Whose Line (two performers act out a scene but have to incorporate a couple of random lines written by audience members), and Eulogy (where a minister leads a funeral service for a random celebrity who died in an even more random fashion – both selected by the audience – and has to decipher both items based on what the mourners say and do).

The rotational pool of 9 actors (ages 22-60) from Shovel City Improv includes Daniel Bradshaw, Kim Bradshaw, Olivia Brazell, Mike Cochran, Bruce Cudd, Diana Dailey, Hannah Fuller, Justen LaPlante, and Eric Mosely.

Doors open at 6:30pm | May Pavilion | $15

This event is recommended for ages 16 and older.
