The wait is over—Disney's “The Lion King Jr.” opens today at the Marion Palace Theatre! Our talented young cast has been working tirelessly to bring this beloved story to life, and we can’t wait to share the magic of the Pridelands with you. From energetic rehearsals to the final touches of makeup and costumes, these kids have poured their hearts into every scene, and it’s clear that their hard work is about to pay off.

From Cubs to Kings: Bringing the Pridelands to Life with Makeup and Costumes

It’s not just the music and story that bring “The Lion King Jr.” to life—it’s the characters themselves. With each brushstroke of face paint and the careful styling of manes and masks, our young actors are stepping into the roles of Simba, Scar, Nala, and the entire Pridelands cast. Take a look at some of our behind-the-scenes photos and see how makeup transforms these talented kids into the iconic animals of the African savannah.

Whether it’s the colorful face of Rafiki or the dramatic features of Scar, every detail is designed to capture the spirit of the character and bring them to life on stage. With the help of our dedicated team of costume and makeup artists, the Pridelands are truly coming together.

With opening night finally here, the excitement is at an all-time high. The stage is set, the cast is ready, and the Pridelands are about to come alive. As one cast member shared, “We’ve worked so hard, and I can’t wait for the audience to see what we’ve created.” It’s a sentiment echoed by the entire team—actors, crew, and directors alike—who have put their all into making this show a reality.

Final rehearsals have been a whirlwind of activity, with every detail being fine-tuned to perfection. From choreography to lighting, and props to set pieces, it’s all coming together to create an experience you won’t want to miss.
