Movies at the Palace

With the growing movement toward digital cinema, the Palace Theatre management found it more and more difficult to acquire the rights for showing 35 mm films at the historic venue. It was important to the Board of Directors that the original tradition of showing films at the Palace Theatre remains a current activity. To do so, the Board and Staff set out to raise the funds necessary to upgrade from a platter system to a new Digital Cinema Projection system. With help from Evelyn E. Walter Foundation, Wm. Kay Davis Foundation, and Merle & Peg Hamilton Charitable Foundation, through Trustee Ron Cramer, and the generous support of Palace patrons, the new DCP system was installed in July 2015. Second-run films continue to be a programming favorite among Palace patrons.
